Firstly, I have to admit it was a brilliantly delivered speech by a fine actor, and in context, I assume it all made sense, but the idea behind it is all so much garbage. The idea that any country, any country at all, is somehow "better" than all other countries, or even any other single country, is just so childish and shallow, it has no place in serious discussion, or a serious TV show.

It's really incredible that he was the glue on SNL for 8 years and always seemed so in control while he was actually battling panic attacks. I've had a couple panic attacks and when they are full blown you feel like you are dying or having a stroke and dissociate from reality. Maybe Bill's anxiety didn't quite tip over into that level or he just toughed it out and was somehow able to not only function but show off his wonderful comedic talent.
